Build a world / Suggested ages 8–16

Roblox Studio

Roblox Studio is the creation tool. Students learn how to design a game rather than only play one, with a pathway shaped around their age and interests.

Ideas become understanding

What they will
work on.

  • Build terrain, maps and 3D environments
  • Design characters, cameras and interfaces
  • Add game logic with Lua-based Luau scripting
  • Create interactions, checkpoints and leaderboards
01

Building & game design route

More emphasis on worlds, characters, level design and mechanics, with scripting introduced step by step.

02

Balanced route for older learners

Building, game design and scripting share the focus. Explore functions, objects, events and player interaction.

03

Their idea. Their game.

An obby is a popular starting idea, but the genre is the student’s choice. Projects grow from skills already learned.

This is a possible pathway, not a fixed completion promise. Activities and topics are adjusted to the learner.

A few possibilities

Their idea comes next.

These examples show possibilities. The student chooses an original project from what they have learned.

Project idea

An original obby

Checkpoints, obstacles and a finish the student designs.

Project idea

A world with a purpose

A map, an interaction and rules that make it playable.

Ready for the lesson

A little preparation.

A Windows or Mac computer that can run Roblox Studio, plus reliable internet. Account and publishing setup are agreed with the parent.

Ask about setup
Does everyone make the same game?

No. Example activities introduce skills; milestone projects belong to the student. Teachers may offer hints to help debug, without making the project for them.

Will the teacher make the project?

No. At project milestones the student plans and makes the work. The teacher can offer hints and debugging questions so the student learns to solve the problem.
