Scratch

A friendly first coding language for children who like making things happen. Visual blocks leave room to focus on ideas, patterns and problem solving.

Ideas become understanding

What they will
work on.

  • Sequence actions and respond to events
  • Use variables, conditions and loops
  • Coordinate sprites with broadcasts
  • Create clones, scoring and game rules
01

Make something happen

Sprites, motion, events, sound and a first interactive story.

02

Give the game rules

Variables, conditions, loops, broadcasts, scoring and debugging.

03

Make it their own

Combine what they know in an original project. Explore Minecraft or Roblox Studio when ready.

This is a possible pathway, not a fixed completion promise. Activities and topics are adjusted to the learner.

A few possibilities

Their idea comes next.

These examples show possibilities. The student chooses an original project from what they have learned.

Project idea

Catch the stars

A simple game with movement, points and a timer.

Project idea

Choose the ending

An interactive story shaped by the player’s choices.

Ready for the lesson

A little preparation.

A laptop or desktop, keyboard, mouse and reliable internet. We help the family prepare the Scratch environment.

Ask about setup
What comes after Scratch?

Depending on readiness and interests, students can move to Minecraft Lua or Roblox Studio. Age alone does not decide the next step.

Will the teacher make the project?

No. At project milestones the student plans and makes the work. The teacher can offer hints and debugging questions so the student learns to solve the problem.
